January has me dreaming of Spring and playing with some ideas for floral and bird patterns. (Work in progress )

All I can think about is the wildfires in LA. The people whose homes are lost.  When ash is falling and your car is packed, it stays with you forever. My heart is thinking of all those families with nowhere to go and the shirts on their back.

2024 - I decided to bring my Etsy store back to life and I have been having so much fun going through the past decade of my sketchbook and finding dozens of drawings for interesting patterns. I found a way to put my artwork printed onto silk scarves and kimonos! I'm printing some of my illustrations onto cute bags!

Today I'm thinking of artistic processes.  This piece was made from 25+ photographs that I gathered hiking in old growth forests, waterfalls and other spots. The journey of wandering with my camera and cutting up, layering photographs is VERY DIFFERENT from hand drawing a forest, a unicorn and then coloring it. Both processes are intrinsically rewarding to me and involve totally different tools. My passion has always been between painting, photography and drawing. I made this enchanted forest before AI, and it took me months, when you add in all the hiking I did, just to gather the photographs. I have felt much more like drawing these days because AI, has lessened my own feelings of joy and love towards photography. Since Artifical Intelligence seems to conjure photography out of thin air, creators can be robbed of the joy and creative process in utilizing a camera!  This feeling of de-motivation is something I'm pondering as an artist, when I try to decide where to put my creative mojo.  But I still love enchanted forest photography! 2024, I'm hoping to find the creative balance between my favorite mediums. It could be any child. While sketching, i thought of a child in Southern Israel, who lost his entire family, the other a child in Gaza who lost her entire family. Ruins, destruction, burning buildings and bombs.. Nobody wins in a war such as this. My heart is with the innocent lives destroyed because of such complicated brutal and terrible things. Normally im writing whimsical fantasy yet for the past 2 weeks, I'm writing about doves, who become war hawks and blood seeping into sand and staining centuries old stone and terrible the weeping of this decades old conflict in the land of Israel, ancient Judea. #amisraelchai #amisrael #neveragainisnow

My rainforest art on a Ravensburger puzzle! I havnt seen the box in person yet, as its in sold in Europe.  Did you know to create this image, several years ago: I hiked for 8 hours with my baby on my back, to take the waterfall photographs in this artwork in the Columbia River Gorge (OREGON before it burned from wildfires!) You'd never know these waterfalls are in the Pacific Northwest, because, then I photoshopped Parrot photos, that I literally went to Hawaii to take photos of from a Parrot guy in Lahaina!  Hours and days of my photography wanderings in wild botanical gardens on Maui to create this rainforest image & then edit using digital darkroom of photoshop. .  Every SINGLE flower was captured by ME my nikon lens.
Edited by hand using a #wacomtablet , cutting out the flowers to seamlessly blend my photography together with collage with #adobephotoshop. (No AI !!!) I always think of it as photo-illustration except there is no drawing so its a completely different medium.  But I like to play with cameras, paint & pencils....wet media & digital media tools as well.

One of my flamingo art pieces was chosen to be included in a "Fun Fabulous Flamingos" greeting card collection by @leanintreecards ! 

This flamingo art was a result of several photographs, first i went all the way to Hawaii and hiked around Hana to get waterfall photographs for several blissful days, then I photographed a bunch of flamingos which were at a bird sanctuary. Then I wandered through many tropical gardens taking photos of dozens of flowers (while my husband and kids ran out climbing trees, causing mischief & drinking coconuts) , then I collages it all together using Photoshop in a separate art composite session. Then, I took it into  Corel Painter where I drew some swirly flowers as border embellishments ! Hours upon hours to make this sweet little flamingo image for joy in the world. #greetingcards #greetingcarddesign
